Early Orthodontic Treatment Suitable For The General Practice Office

For the average general practitioner, early intervention for a skeletal malocclusion (Class II, Class III, Open Bite, Transverse Discrepancy, Asymmetry, etc.), can be challenging and mechanics may be comprehensive. However, there is an abundance of other orthodontic problems which can benefit from early intervention, regardless whether the provider is a specialist or a general practitioner.

This lecture will summarize many of the arguments for and against early treatment and present a variety of cases to illustrate how early recognition, diagnosis and treatment, with “fixed” and/or removable appliances, can benefit the patient.

About Dr. Gerry Solomon

DDS Orthodontics

Dr. Gerry Solomon DDS graduated from the University of Toronto in 1972. He did internship at the Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto) 1972-1973. He obtained his diploma in Orthodontics from the University of Toronto in 1979. He is Assistant Professor in Graduate Orthodontics at the University of Manitoba, Associate in Dentistry at the University of Toronto Graduate Orthodontic Department and Visiting lecturer and Instructor in Undergraduate Orthodontics at Dalhousie University.

 

Recipient of the University of Toronto 40-Year Service Award, served as volunteer staff orthodontist at Mount Sinai Hospital (Toronto) for 7 years. He is Past President of the Ontario Association of Orthodontists, Recipient of the Ontario Association of Orthodontists Distinguished Service Award and Past President of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists.
